Michigan Limited Diagnostic Radiographers
Prepare for Michigan’s rule 5212.
Michigan’s Rule 5212 takes effect early 2027. Anyone operating an x-ray machine outside an active license has to complete a 40-hour training program with both didactic and clinical components, plus 12 continuing education credits every two years after that.
Control the Dose has educated limited X-ray operators for over 25 years. We rebuilt the didactic portion of our course around what Michigan’s rules require, and we kept the format simple enough that a busy clinic can run staff through it without shutting down for a week.
Existing LXMOs
Many clinics have staff who’ve been taking x-rays for years. Some of them, decades. They worked in a state with no education requirement for limited operators, and they got good at the job by doing the job. Now Michigan wants formal education on file by March 2027, or they can’t keep doing the work.
Cross Train your Existing Staff
The course works the same way for your existing staff you want to cross train. The didactic teaches what someone new to imaging needs to know. The clinical component takes longer when the RT is training a beginner instead of documenting an experienced operator’s existing skills.
Our online didactic course fulfill the formal radiation safety, anatomy, and image production knowledge required by Rule 5212.
