In South Dakota, a student or network has the option to use either our BASIC or COMPREHENSIVE course. South Dakota does not require one to sit for the ARRT Limited Scope Exam, so your training can vary depending on your desired scope of practice, or your networks desired level of training.** Scroll down to learn about both courses.

Sample Lecture:
Basic Limited Operator Course
- Self-paced & online.
- Students complete presentations, videos, downloadable items, quizzes, and self-tests; progress is recorded.
- Instructor support available via email, phone, or zoom.
- To complete hands-on requirements, a local supervisor and X-ray facility are necessary. Supervisor qualifications may vary, but an ideal supervisor is an RT(R).*
- Average time of completion is 12-16 weeks.**
- Receive Certificate of Completion upon completion of online portion and supervisor validation of clinical experience.***
*Course instructors are all licensed RTs and available to assist with the course if needed.
**Course length varies and depends on the student’s state as well as availability to learn material AND complete hands-on procedures.

This mini course aims to ready and provide necessary tools to the on-site coordinator who will support a participant in either a BASIC or COMPREHENSIVE course. The coordinator is typically an RT (Radiologic Technologist), although in certain states, an LRT, MD, DO, or PA can also serve in this capacity.
